Best TVs of 2024

Ranked by our critic's grades, best first.

This page ranks the top ten of the fifteen televisions reviewed for 2024 by critic grade. OLED reaches down the price list, from LG's entry level B4 at $1,499 to flagships from Samsung, Panasonic and Sony, while Mini LED chases brightness, Hisense with near 3,000 nits for $1,499 and Sony with the most controlled LCD ever built.

LG C4 OLED is the year's one S: roughly 1,050 nits, 144Hz on all four HDMI 2.1 ports, and a price that fell below $1,500 inside a year. Seven A grades follow. Samsung S90D QD-OLED shares the flagship's panel at $1,999, with a catch in the larger sizes. LG B4 OLED is the cheapest OLED that behaves like one, on a dimmer panel. Hisense U8N pairs near 3,000 nits with about 1,600 dimming zones, saving on tone mapping and off-angle viewing. Panasonic Z95A OLED is the reference OLED at $3,199. Samsung S95D QD-OLED buries reflections under a matte layer and reads grey rather than black in a dim room. Sony Bravia 8 OLED is the most natural picture in its class. Sony Bravia 9 runs about 1,500 zones with almost no blooming at $2,999 and only two full-bandwidth HDMI ports.

The two B grades, Sony Bravia 7 at $1,899 and Hisense U7N at $999, are Mini LEDs sold on price. A reader weighing the U8N against the Bravia 9 is paying twice as much for the Sony's backlight control.
