The brightest OLED of its year and the most complete gaming television anyone made, sold without a stand.

The G4 settles the argument the G3 started. LG's second generation micro lens array panel adds a real brightness step over a set that was already the brightest OLED on sale, and the practical effect is that drawing the curtains stops being part of the setup instructions. Tone mapping is better judged than the year before, near black handling is cleaner, and the processing invents less than Samsung's does.
What has not changed is the completeness of the gaming package: four inputs at full bandwidth, 144Hz for a PC, variable refresh everywhere and input lag low enough that it stops being a topic of conversation. The complaints are familiar and fair. LG still ships the G series with a flush wall mount and no stand at all, so anyone putting it on furniture pays extra for a pedestal and loses the flat profile the design exists for.
The anti reflection layer scatters ambient light rather than absorbing it, which turns a bright lamp into a haze across the whole panel. And the gap over a C4 that shares most of the picture in a dim room is hard to justify on brightness alone. As a wall panel in a room with windows it is the best television of 2024, and rivals are still measured against it.
