2024TitleistGolf Ball
Titleist's distance ball does one thing at full commitment and gives up the short game to do it.

Velocity is the ball for the golfer whose scorecard is decided off the tee and nowhere else. The core is large, the cover is a firm ionomer skin, and the whole package is tuned for high launch and very low long game spin, which is the recipe for carry that keeps going once it lands. Independent robot testing at moderate driver speeds puts it at or near the top of the field for total distance, and on the course that shows up as drives finishing level with balls costing twice as much.
It is also the firmest ionomer ball on the market by a clear margin, and that firmness is the whole story of how it feels: the strike is loud, the putt comes off the face fast, and some golfers read that as feedback while others read it as a rock. The greenside grade needs explaining, because it sits well under the rest of the card.
On short wedge shots the Velocity spins less than anything else tested, so pitches release, chips run out and full wedges take a hop and keep going, and no amount of technique closes that gap. Play it if you accept that every approach lands short of where you aim and rolls the rest of the way. At thirty dollars a dozen it is honest about the trade.
