2024TitleistGolf Ball

Titleist's attempt at a ball between the Pro V1 and the Velocity, which is a narrower gap than it looks.

Titleist sells the Pro V1 to almost everyone and the Tour Speed exists for the golfer who wants a Titleist that costs less and flies further. It uses a urethane cover, but a thermoplastic one made in house rather than the cast urethane of the tour balls, and the difference shows exactly where you would expect: it spins well on full wedge shots and noticeably less on the short delicate ones, where a Pro V1 grips and this releases.

Off the tee it is fast and high, and a mid speed swing will find it as long as anything in the range. The feel is on the firm side of the mid tier. The difficulty is the price, which sits close enough to the Pro V1 that most buyers should simply pay the difference, and above the Srixon and TaylorMade balls that do the same job for less. It is a good ball caught between two better arguments.
