Titleist Tour Soft Review

Tour Soft is a core with a skin on it. Titleist has spent several generations making that core larger and the cover thinner, and the 2026 ball is the furthest along that road yet: a big low compression centre doing nearly all of the work, wrapped in a grafted ionomer thin enough that you can feel the core through it.

Off the tee the result is an easy, slightly high flight with very little curvature. It is not a long ball for a fast swinger, because a soft core hands speed back once you get past about 105 mph, but for the 90 mph player it launches high and holds its line better than a firmer two piece will. Irons feel genuinely muted, which is the entire selling point, and the note off a putter face is the quietest thump in the Titleist range apart from TruFeel itself.

The short game is where the honest conversation happens. Ionomer is ionomer. A full wedge from 90 yards will check once and then take another six feet, and a pitch off a firm lie runs out rather than sitting down. Good players play around that all the time, and it is a real skill, but at forty dollars a dozen you are within a few dollars of three piece urethane balls that will not make you plan for the release. Buy it for the feel and the straightness, not because the word Tour is on the box.
