Titleist Pro V1 Review
2023TitleistGolf Ball
The reference ball. Everything else in the category is measured against it, and most of it still comes up short.

Pro V1 is the ball the entire category is calibrated against, and that is not brand inertia. The 2023 model reformulated the ZG Process core to run softer through the middle and firmer at the edge, which is how Titleist keeps driver spin down without letting the ball go dead off an iron. Above that sits a high-flex casing layer doing the real work, adding spin on partial wedges while shedding it on full swings, and a cast urethane cover thin enough that the 388-dimple pattern still governs the flight rather than fighting it.
What you notice on the course is consistency rather than any single standout number. The window is the same on every full shot, a crosswind moves it less than it should, and a half wedge from forty yards checks on the second hop every time. It is not the longest ball off the tee and Titleist has never claimed it is. Durability is genuinely good for a soft urethane cover, which matters at fifty-five dollars a dozen. Buy it once and you stop wondering whether the ball is the problem, which is most of what you are paying for.
