A urethane cover at an ionomer price, which makes it the best value ball on the shelf by a distance.

The Q-Star Tour occupies a position most manufacturers avoid because it undercuts their own premium ball. It has a real urethane cover, which is the single ingredient that separates a tour ball from a distance ball, and it delivers the greenside spin that cover implies: chips check, pitches stop, and wedge shots behave like a Z-Star's. The feel is soft in the way Srixon's whole range is soft, which some players find muted off the putter.
Where it gives ground is off the tee and with long irons, where the lower compression loses a little ball speed for a faster swinger and flies a touch higher than a Z-Star, costing a few yards. For most golfers that trade is invisible and the saving is not. It is the ball to recommend to anyone who wants a tour ball's short game and cannot justify tour ball prices, and it makes the case that a lot of golfers are paying for a cover they already have here.
