The Noodle grades where it does because of what it costs, not because of what it spins, and that distinction is the whole review. A compression in the mid thirties is about as soft as a golf ball legally gets, and against a driver at eighty-five miles an hour it fully compresses and gives everything back, which is precisely the population it was built for. Fifteen balls in the box for around twenty dollars works out under a dollar and a half each, so the pond on seven stops being a financial event and starts being a shrug.

Feel is the surprise. Off a putter and off a wedge it is genuinely soft, closer to a premium ball than the price has any right to deliver and far more pleasant than most firm distance balls at the same money. What it will not do is stop. The soft ionomer cover produces very little greenside spin, so pitches release and anything into a firm green has to land short and run. Judged as a tour ball it fails on that alone. Judged as the most golf anyone can buy for twenty dollars, nothing comes near it.
