Maxfli is a house brand now, which is the only reason this ball costs what it does. The Tour is a four piece cast urethane model built to a genuine flagship specification, and independent testing puts its numbers alongside balls selling for fifteen dollars more a dozen. It launches higher with the irons than most tour balls, holds a green from a full wedge, and gives up nothing anyone will notice around the chipping area.
Ball to ball consistency used to be the knock on this brand and it is no longer the weak spot. The current generation measures as tightly through a dozen as the balls it undercuts, and the stablemate Tour X has already won in the professional game, which is not something a sporting goods house brand gets to say. The one thing you do trade is texture. Feel is firm and clean rather than plush, a fraction clickier off the putter than the softest of the flagships, and a golfer who chooses a ball for the sound at impact will hear it from inside ten feet.
Everyone else gets tour performance and keeps the difference in their pocket. The firmer Tour X sits next to it for faster swings that want more spin and a harder strike. Buy either one when you find them, because the price is the whole point and the performance does not apologize for it.
