Callaway Supersoft Review
2023CallawayGolf Ball
Built for slow swing speeds and honest about it. Soft, straight, and not remotely a short-game ball.

Supersoft is one of the best-selling balls in America and the reason is not mysterious. A very low compression core means a player swinging eighty miles an hour actually deforms the ball at impact, which is where the energy transfer happens, and slower swingers moving across from a firm tour ball genuinely pick up carry rather than imagining it. The hybrid cover blends ionomer with a softer modifier to take the click out of the feel, and off a putter it is quiet and pleasant in a way most two-piece balls are not.
High core energy and low spin also straighten out a slice a little, which sells a great many boxes. What it will not do is stop on a green. Greenside spin is well down on any urethane ball and there is no engineering around a cover chosen for durability and price. Full wedges land and run out. At twenty-five dollars for a dozen that lasts a season, aimed squarely at the golfer it was designed for, it does its job well. Aimed at anyone who shapes shots or scores from inside sixty yards, it does not.
