Callaway Chrome Soft Review
2024CallawayGolf Ball
The softest ball that still plays like a tour ball, and the only real reason to walk past the Titleist shelf.

Chrome Soft has always sold on feel and the 2024 version leans into it harder than ever. The Hyper Elastic SoftFast core is enormous relative to the mantle around it, which is why the ball visibly compresses against a wedge face, and why players who hate the click of a firm tour ball land here and stay. Callaway's tighter tolerances on layer concentricity are the unglamorous reason the flight finally settled down after a couple of generations that wandered.
Greenside it is genuinely excellent. The urethane is soft and thick enough to grab on half shots off tight lies, and the spin gap to the benchmark is small enough that no amateur will find it. What you give up sits at the other end of the bag. It is a couple of miles an hour slower off a driver than the firmest balls here and it launches a shade higher, so anyone already fighting a ballooning flight should be looking at the X version instead. Same fifty-five dollars, softer everything, marginally shorter. That is the trade, stated plainly.
