Notion is the all in one workspace for notes, docs, wikis and lightweight databases. Version 3.0, released on September 18 2025, reframes the product around agents rather than a single chat box. A personal agent can create documents, build databases, search across connected tools and carry out multi step jobs, and the release adds custom agents you can configure for a specific recurring task.
The headline is autonomy. Notion says an agent can run for up to 20 minutes on its own and touch hundreds of pages in a single job, which moves it past the one prompt one answer pattern most workspace AI still uses. In practice it is strongest when your team already keeps real work in Notion, because the agent is only as good as the pages and databases it can reach.
Pricing folds AI into the Business plan at 20 dollars per user each month after a 2025 restructure removed the separate add on, and custom agents draw on a credit system priced around 10 dollars per 1000 credits. The learning curve is the main tax. Notion rewards teams who invest in structure, and an agent loosed on a messy workspace mostly finds the mess faster. For an organized Notion shop it is a genuine step up. For a casual note taker it is more machinery than the job needs.
