Todoist has been refining one idea since 2007: capturing a task should take a second. Type a line such as submit invoice every Friday at 9am p1 and it reads the recurrence, time and priority without a single menu, and that quick add parser remains the best in its class. The app is fast and uncluttered, sync is dependable, and it runs on the web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and both major watch platforms. Ramble, a voice feature powered by Google Gemini, turns a spoken brain dump into dated, prioritized tasks.
It is the default recommendation for personal task management, and the praise is broad rather than grudging. The free Beginner plan is usable but tight at five personal projects and one week of activity history. Pro rose in December 2025 to 5 dollars a month billed yearly, or 7 monthly, and Business went to 8 dollars per user, increases that still leave it cheaper than most paid rivals.
The limits are about scope. Todoist shows tasks by date but is not a calendar planner, so time blocking needs a workaround, and teams running real projects outgrow it for Asana or Linear. For one person, or a small team juggling many lists, it is the cleanest system there is.
