Manus is a general purpose AI agent that tries to take an entire task off your plate rather than answer a single question. Give it a goal and it will browse, write and run code, build a small site or compile research in its own cloud workspace, then hand back a finished result. Its public debut in early 2025 was one of the loudest moments of the year, with an invite only waitlist and a wave of demos, and paid plans followed in March 2025.
The plans run on credits. A free tier grants 1000 credits, the Starter plan is 39 dollars a month for 3900 credits and two concurrent tasks, and the Pro plan is 199 dollars a month for 19900 credits and five concurrent tasks, with more available to buy. Because a single ambitious task can consume a lot of credits, real spending is hard to predict.
The honest read is that the ambition outran the reliability. Manus is genuinely impressive when a task fits its groove, but it leans on other companies' frontier models under the hood, results vary from run to run, and long jobs can fail after spending real money. It pushed the whole industry toward agents that finish work, which matters. As a daily tool it rewards patience and a tolerance for redoing tasks, so it suits experimenters more than anyone who needs a dependable result the first time.
