Linear is a deliberately narrow issue tracker for software teams. Its defining engineering choice is a local-first sync engine: the client keeps a copy of the workspace in memory, so navigation, search and edits register instantly and reconcile in the background rather than waiting on a round trip. The interface assumes a keyboard, with a command menu and single-key shortcuts for status, assignee, priority and label.

Work is organised into teams, projects, cycles and a triage inbox, with automatic cycle rollover carrying unfinished issues forward and project updates summarising status without a meeting. Roadmaps group projects under initiatives, and integrations with GitHub, GitLab, Slack and Figma close issues from commit messages and surface previews in context.

The product refuses most customisation on purpose, which is the trade it asks buyers to accept. Pricing is free for small workspaces, then $10 per user per month for Basic and $16 for Business on annual billing. Founded in 2019. This entry carries a provisional placeholder grade: it has not been through a full graded review yet, so every letter here sits at a neutral C until it is.
