Gemini 3 is Google's frontier model family, launched on November 18 2025 with a Pro model and a Deep Think reasoning mode, followed by a fast Flash variant on December 17. What made the launch land was reach: Google shipped it into the Gemini app and into Search on the same day, so hundreds of millions of people met the new model without installing anything or paying a cent.

Access scales in three steps. The free tier covers ordinary use, Google AI Pro at 19.99 dollars a month raises the limits, and Google AI Ultra at 249.99 dollars a month adds the full Veo video model, Deep Think, the Project Mariner task agent, 30 terabytes of storage and 25000 monthly AI credits. The deep integration is the real advantage, since the same model runs through Gmail, Docs, Android and Search rather than sitting in a separate tab.

On raw capability Gemini 3 briefly took the top of the public benchmarks and handles very long context well, which is why it anchors this list. The honest caveat is that the frontier is crowded. OpenAI answered within weeks and the ranking keeps changing, so treat any claim of the single best model as a snapshot. For nearly everyone the free tier is the story. Ultra only makes sense for creators and researchers who will actually use the video model and the highest limits.
