Dropbox synchronises a folder, and the engineering that made it famous is still what separates it. Block-level delta sync uploads only the changed pieces of a file, LAN sync pulls from a machine on the same network instead of the internet, and on-demand placeholders let a laptop browse a multi-terabyte team folder without storing it locally. Version history and file recovery run to 30 days on entry plans and a full year higher up, with rewind for restoring an entire folder to a point in time.
Team features cover shared folders with granular permissions, admin controls, device approvals and audit logs, plus Paper for lightweight docs, Sign for signatures, Capture for screen recordings and Replay for video review. Clients ship for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android alongside the web app. Plus covers one user with 2 TB; team plans bill per user with pooled storage. Founded in 2007. This entry carries a provisional placeholder grade: it has not been through a full graded review yet, so every letter here sits at a neutral C until it is.
