The pitch has not changed since 2017 and it is not a bad one: stop paying for six tools when one can hold your tasks, documents, goals, whiteboards, chat and reporting together. ClickUp really does contain all of that, its custom fields and view types go further than anything else at the price, and June's Brain2 release was a genuine step up, pulling context from across a workspace and routing a question to Claude, GPT or Gemini depending on what the work needs. Brain MAX puts the same thing in a desktop sidebar that searches ClickUp, Drive, Figma, GitHub, SharePoint, Slack, Dropbox and the open web at once.

The cost of all that is the complaint every review round repeats. A new workspace asks you to understand Spaces, Folders, Lists, custom statuses, custom fields and a dozen view types before you have tracked a single task. The teams that succeed with it are the ones who put somebody in charge of the configuration and let them own it. The teams that do not end up with a tangle harder to unpick than the six tools they left behind, which is exactly what the setup grade is recording.

The pricing is two layers and the second one is the surprise. Unlimited is seven dollars a user a month on annual billing and Business is twelve, which reads cheap next to the competition, and then Brain is another nine a seat and the heavier Autopilot tier twenty eight, which doubles or triples the bill for the features the marketing leads with. Pay monthly instead of annually and Business jumps from twelve to nineteen. Worth it for a team that will invest in setup. Punishing for one that will not. There is a free tier, then $7 per user a month for Unlimited and $12 for Business on annual billing, with the Brain AI add on another $9.
