1Password sells trust, and its record is the product: no breach, an independently audited architecture, and a design that means even the company cannot read a vault. The apps are the best in the category on every platform, the browser extension fills forms with fewer mistakes than any competitor, and passkey support arrived early and works. The family plan is the quiet killer feature, with shared vaults that make it possible to run a household without the spreadsheet.
For companies, the business tier adds the controls an IT team needs and a developer toolkit that puts secrets into build pipelines without pasting them anywhere. The costs are a subscription with no free tier, in a market where a good free option exists in Bitwarden, and an interface redesign that regular users found slower than the one it replaced. Migration in is easy. It is worth the money for anyone who has ever reused a password, which is most people.
