The low spin head grew a pair of weight ports and became something a fitter can actually work with.

The complaint about TSi4 was that it offered one setting and no way out of it. TSR4 fixes that with a pair of weight ports, one just behind the face and one at the back of the sole, so a fitter can shift eleven grams between them and choose how much spin to strip and how much stability to keep. In the forward setting it is as aggressive a spin killer as anything on the market, in the back setting it plays like a slightly small conventional driver, and the difference between them is worth several hundred revolutions.

The face uses a multi plateau variable thickness pattern that holds ball speed better on the low strike than the previous generation managed. It is still 430cc and still asks for a decent strike, so the forgiveness grade is honest rather than harsh. The look at address is a compact pear, the sound is a firm crack, and at $599 it costs the same as the models that suit far more golfers.
