Titleist's lightest hybrid was built for slower swings and turned out to be the one testers kept reaching for.

Titleist's 1 models have always carried a stigma. TSi1 and TSR1 were built light for slower swings, and plenty of golfers who would have benefited never looked at them. The GT1 hybrid deserves a look from almost everyone. It is the lightest hybrid Titleist makes, with a head large enough to sit between a hybrid and a high lofted fairway wood, a low, deep center of gravity and two weights, one forward and one aft, that swap places to change launch and spin without touching the loft. The 16 position SureFit hosel handles loft and lie, and the head can be built on either a fairway or a hybrid shaft tip.
Testers agree on the launch. It gets the ball up with almost no effort, from tight lies and from the rough, and it lands steeply enough to stop. The speed is the surprise. One test of the 2026 hybrids had it first and third for ball speed in its two weight settings and named it the best hybrid of the year, twelve months after the same outlet had called it the best of 2025. Another found it launching well above its GT2 and GT3 siblings for barely a mile an hour less ball speed.
The faults are small and predictable. A golfer who already launches it high will find it spins more than they want, a stronger player gets more power from the GT2 or GT3, and the oversized footprint will not suit every better player's eye.
At $329 it is priced like every premium hybrid, so the value is fair rather than exceptional. For the golfer who wants the easiest club in the bag to get airborne from 200 yards, it is the one to try first.
