The fairway wood family that fills tour bags gets a better sounding head, and the 2026 testing puts it at the top of its class.

TaylorMade has dominated the fairway wood count on the PGA Tour in recent seasons, and the Qi4D replaces a Qi35 that was already the benchmark. The changes are refinements rather than reinventions: a darker carbon crown, an improved Speed Pocket behind the face to protect ball speed on low strikes, Twist Face curvature to straighten heel and toe misses, an 8 gram weight at the rear and a sleeve that moves loft through four degrees. The stock shafts come from a new Mitsubishi Chemical family fitted by how much a golfer rotates the face through impact.

What the testing shows is a club with no weak category. In a head to head of the 2026 fairway woods it finished second for ball speed and fourth for carry, drew one of the tightest left to right patterns in the test, and landed with spin and descent almost exactly on the test average, which is the profile of a head that can hit any shot shape for almost any golfer. Separate launch monitor testing found the same pairing of speed and control: enough spin to come down steeply and hold a firm green, and a strong, penetrating flight off a tee.

Sound and feel are the other clear improvement over the Qi35. The only reservation is spin. Players who need help getting the ball up from the turf, or who want a softer landing, will be better served by the higher launching Qi4D Max beside it.

At $379.99 it costs thirty dollars more than the Qi10 fairway did two generations ago and still sits below Titleist's fairway woods. For a core model, this is as complete as the category gets in 2026.
