Forged Ring Construction in the compact low spin shape rather than the crowd pleasing Max.

The construction is the story. Instead of bonding a face into a titanium body, TaylorMade built a forged aluminium ring around the perimeter and hung a carbon crown, a carbon sole and a titanium face off it, which frees enough mass for a 16 gram steel weight sitting at the very back of the sole. The result is a head that holds its ball speed better than the original SIM without the spin creeping up.
This is the small one in the family, and it plays like it. Strikes toward the toe drop a few miles an hour where the Max shrugs them off, so it wants a player who finds the middle often enough to earn the lower spin. What you get in return is a flight that stays under the wind and a shape at address that looks square rather than shut. The sound is a low crack, quieter than the M generation it replaced. At $529.99 in early 2021 it was fairly priced for what a fitting session could pull out of it.
