The rare fairway wood that is as good off the deck as it is off a tee peg.

Most fairway woods are really tee clubs that can be persuaded to work from grass. This one is built the other way round. The sole carries an asymmetric V shaped rail that narrows the contact patch as the head enters turf, so it does not dig on a slightly heavy strike, and the through slot behind the face keeps ball speed alive on the low hits that a fairway wood produces constantly off a tight lie.
The head is 190cc, a touch smaller than the Max version, and the carbon crown moves enough mass low to launch a 15 degree head off the deck without a perfect strike. Twist Face does its usual quiet work on the toe high miss. It sounds solid and slightly muted rather than sharp, and the shaping at address is compact enough for a good player while staying friendly. Five lofts run from 15 through 24 degrees and the hosel adjusts, so a 5 wood can be tuned to sit properly under the 3. At $349.99 it is the standard.
