Milled from a solid billet of 303 stainless, and still the shape every other blade is drawn against.

A Newport 2 does not do anything clever, which is the entire proposition. The head is milled from a solid block of 303 stainless steel, the face has a fine milled pattern rather than an insert, and the feel that comes back off a centred putt is the reason people spend this money: a soft, dense, low click with no ringing in it. Special Select refined the sole into three distinct zones so the head sits flat and slides rather than catching as it moves back, and moved the sole weights to let the head be tuned to a shaft length.
Heel and toe weighting gives a blade about as much stability as physics allows, which is to say considerably less than a mallet. Strikes half an inch out of the heel come up short and drift, so this is a putter for a player with a repeatable arc. Alignment is a single line and nothing more. At $399 it is expensive for what it does, and it will outlive several bags.
