The 0311 Black Ops is PXG's mainstream driver and it takes the company's usual approach of putting adjustability ahead of simplicity. Carbon covers both the crown and a large area of the sole, which frees a sizeable mass budget, and that budget is spent on multiple sole weight ports rather than a single fixed slug, so head weight, swing weight and bias can all be moved during a fitting instead of being fixed at the factory.
The face is a variable thickness titanium plate designed to hold ball speed across a wide area. At address it is a full 460cc with a matte black finish, no glare and a fairly deep face that a stronger player will read well. Sound is firm and reasonably loud. Stock lofts run 7.5, 9 and 10.5 degrees, which is a lower range than most rivals offer. Provisional entry, held flat at C as a placeholder until a fitting session and range testing produce numbers worth standing behind.
