Ping G440 Max Review

2025PingGolf Club

The 10K idea with the hosel put on a diet, freeing weight from the one place Ping had not touched.

G440 Max carries the Carbonfly Wrap crown forward, with carbon continuing over the skirt rather than stopping at the crown edge, and adds a redesign of the hosel itself, which had stayed largely untouched while every other part of the head was lightened. Stripping mass from the neck matters because that weight sits high and toward the heel, exactly where it is least useful, and moving it into the sole raises stability and lowers the centre of gravity at the same time.

The face keeps the spinsistency thickness profile, thinned low so that strikes below centre lose less ball speed and launch higher. The head is a full 460cc with a rounded, deep profile and the usual muted Ping impact sound. Fitting is the eight-position hosel adjusting both loft and lie, with lofts at 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees, alongside LST and SFT variants. The letters are a provisional placeholder: nothing gets a real grade until it has been hit on a range and measured rather than read about.
