The thinner forged face and the Carbonfly crown turn Ping's stable head into a fast one.

Ping has built stable drivers for a decade, and the criticism was always the same: reliable, forgiving, a yard or two behind the fastest heads. G430 Max closes that gap. The face is a thinner forged variable thickness design that is shallower than the G425 it replaces, so more of it flexes, and ball speed on strikes low in the face improves enough to show up in carry rather than only on a monitor.

The Carbonfly Wrap crown carries composite down over the skirt and frees grams for a twenty five gram tungsten back weight that can be set in draw, neutral or fade positions. The head is enormous through the middle and the stability that comes with it is genuinely best in class, which is why the forgiveness grade is what it is. Turbulators on the crown are still there and still divide opinion at address. The sound is the familiar low muted thud that flatters a poor strike. At $600 it is expensive and hard to argue with.
