G400 Max took the G400 platform back up to a full 460cc, having spent a generation at 445cc, and used the extra footprint entirely for stability. The dragonfly crown is a pattern of extremely thin panels braced by raised ribs, which saves weight from the top of the head, and that saving goes into a twenty-six gram tungsten weight set at the extreme rear of the sole. The combination gave Ping the highest moment of inertia it had produced at that point, and in practice the head simply does not want to twist on a heel or toe strike.
The face is a thin forged T9S+ titanium plate with variable thickness, and the sound is the classic Ping low thud, deliberately engineered with internal ribbing. Fitting is the eight-position Trajectory Tuning hosel with a degree either way, and lofts are 9 and 10.5 degrees. Grades here are a provisional placeholder held flat at C until this head goes through a proper fitting and a full launch monitor block.
