2021MizunoGolf Club
Copper under the chrome and a tapered blade, in the best feeling wedge money could buy that year.

Mizuno builds wedges the way it builds irons, which is to say the metallurgy comes first. The T22 is grain flow forged in one piece from boron infused steel with a micro layer of copper plated beneath the nickel chrome, and that copper is why a pitch struck out of the middle feels like the ball stays on the face an extra instant. Nothing else in the category feels like it. The head shape is a modified teardrop with a heavily bevelled top edge that makes it look thinner than it is, and the upper portion of the blade is tapered to move mass toward the sole, which lowers flight and keeps spin steady on the three quarter shots that decide short game scoring.
Four grinds cover most turf, though the range is narrower than the Titleist matrix and the fitting support is thinner. Finishes are excellent, particularly the denim copper, which ages rather than wears out. At $159.95 a head from October 2021 it was the value pick as well as the feel pick.
