Chromoly grain flow forged, so a thin fast face finally comes with the Mizuno feel attached.

The trick with a forged players distance iron is that soft steel does not want to be thin, and thin is where ball speed comes from. Mizuno's answer was to grain flow forge the head from 4120 chromoly, a stronger alloy that tolerates a face around two millimetres thick, then keep the whole thing forged in one piece rather than welding a face on. The result plays fast and feels like nothing else in the category, a dense soft press that most cast game improvement irons cannot approach.
Shaping is honest for the segment: a moderate sole, a topline slightly thicker than the Pro line, offset kept in check. Lofts are strong but not absurd, and the long irons launch high enough to hold a green. Forgiveness is good rather than exceptional, since the head is compact and there is no hollow cavity or tungsten to prop up the toe. Around $1,300 for an eight piece set from late 2020, which was a fair price then and looks like a bargain now.
