Cobra Aerojet Review

2023CobraGolf Club

Chased drag reduction into a narrow, shouty head, then raised the price and abandoned Cobra's best argument.

Aerojet chased drag reduction hard and got a shape that genuinely moves through the air, with a stretched low-profile crown and a leading edge tucked in tight. It also introduced the PWR-Bridge weight, suspended behind the face so the sole beneath it could be thinned. On paper that is a good year. In hand the standard head is the narrowest of the three, and the price of that aerodynamic profile is a footprint offering less heel-and-toe stability than the Cobra before it or the Cobra after it, so strikes out toward the toe give back both ball speed and direction.

The sound is the bigger problem, a high hollow crack that flattens the difference between a good strike and an average one. Fitting range is thin too, with a fixed weight and only the eight-setting hosel. Cobra also chose this model to move to $549, so the brand's long-standing value argument vanished in the same year the head got fussier.
