Mavrik was the first driver whose face was designed by a machine rather than a person, and the interesting part is that Callaway ran the process separately for each model, so the standard head, the Max and the Sub Zero got genuinely different thickness architectures instead of one face scaled three ways. The Flash Face SS20 pattern looks like nonsense and works, holding ball speed across a wider band than the Rogue before it, particularly low on the face.
Jailbreak bars stay, the crown is triaxial carbon, and the head borrows a cyclone-style aero profile that tapers toward the back. Launch is mid to high with spin in the low two thousands for a fitted player, and the sound is a firm, slightly muted crack, the best Callaway had managed to that point. The standard Mavrik gives the tightest dispersion of the three and was the one most golfers should have been sold. At $499 it has aged well.
