Callaway Epic Max Review
2021CallawayGolf Club
A sliding perimeter weight and a high draw bias, wrapped around a face that sounds louder than it plays.

Epic Max is the wide, stable head in a family that also included a compact low spin model, and it is aimed at the player whose miss goes right. A sixteen gram weight slides along a track around the perimeter, which is a genuinely wide adjustment range and can move the bias from neutral to a strong draw setting worth serious yardage correction. Behind the face sits the Jailbreak speed frame, a stiffening structure that lets the face itself flex more while the body stays rigid, and the triaxial carbon crown puts the saved mass low.
It is long and it is forgiving. What holds it back is spin and sound. The head produces more spin than the compact model or the era's best drivers, so the flight climbs, and the impact note is a high, hollow crack that plenty of players dislike immediately. Lofts are 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees with an eight way hosel. At $529.99 it was fair value and never the best driver of its year.
