Adams Idea Pro a12 Hybrid Review
2012AdamsGolf Club
The compact hybrid tour players actually put in the bag, with a slot in the sole doing the quiet work.

Adams spent the late 2000s owning the hybrid slot on tour, and the Idea Pro a12 is the clearest illustration of why. The head is compact, pear shaped and shallow, sitting behind the ball like a small fairway wood rather than a shovel, which is the entire reason better players trusted it. A slot cut across the sole behind the leading edge lets the lower face flex, so a strike off firm turf keeps its ball speed instead of coming out dead.
Tungsten low in the body drops the centre of gravity without ballooning the flight, and the ball climbs into a usable window then lands steeply enough to hold a green from two hundred yards. It does not fight a shaped shot either. You can hood it and hit a low runner into the wind, which is precisely what a long iron replacement should be able to do. That workability costs forgiveness on the heel, and the narrow sole makes thick rough a genuine problem. Fitted properly, it is the club that finally made the top of the bag boring, in the best sense.
