Sixty-one megapixels finally paired with autofocus that can find a face across a room, and video that would rather you did not.

The sensor did not change and it did not need to. Sixty-one megapixels of full-frame detail was already the most resolution anyone was putting in a body this size, and pixel shift stacks it to two hundred and forty for static subjects that hold still. What changed is everything around it. The dedicated AI processing unit brought pose estimation to a resolution body, so the camera recognises a human skeleton rather than a face and keeps tracking when the subject turns away, which is exactly the failure that used to ruin portrait sequences.
Eight stops of stabilisation makes handheld work at this pixel density realistic instead of theoretical, and the four-axis screen tilts for a low landscape and flips for a piece to camera without making you pick a side. Video is where honesty is required. There is 8K, but it crops, it rolls badly and heat limits the take, while 4K60 is Super35 only. Ten frames a second is modest too, though at this file size nobody is shooting bursts. As a landscape, studio and commercial stills tool it has no real peer under four thousand dollars.
