Insta360 X6 Review
2026Insta360Camera
A 360 camera with enough sensor behind it that the reframed footage finally looks like real camera footage.

The X6 answers the complaint that has followed every 360 camera ever made: the picture. Insta360 built custom square sensors with roughly a third more area than the X5 used, and that is the difference between footage you reframe and footage you apologize for, with low light the place the change lands hardest. Eight K capture arrives at a higher frame rate than before, ten bit log and a flat profile make the files gradeable rather than merely shareable, and the new processor keeps the stitch line invisible in situations that used to expose it badly.
Battery life is long, the body shrugs off being dropped on rock, and the reframing tools remain the reason people pick this over a conventional action camera. Two things keep it from a clean sweep. There is no autofocus in the usual sense, because both fisheye lenses are fixed and lean on depth of field, and the subject tracking that stands in for it happens on the phone rather than in the camera, so you wait for a round trip before you see the result.
The price is the larger issue and the reason the value grade sits two steps under the overall: this asks a long way more than the X5, which still looks like the better all round buy, and the companion software needed weeks of fixes after launch. For pure image quality nothing in the format touches it.
