The X-T30's replacement with the flagship's sensor and a film simulation dial that says who it is for.

The X-T50 is a small camera carrying a lot of sensor. The 40 megapixel X-Trans chip is the same one in the X-T5 and the X-H2, and it resolves more than any APS-C rival, which is remarkable in a body this size and slightly wasted on the kit lens it usually ships with. Stabilisation arrived in this line for the first time. The controversial change is the film simulation dial on the top plate, which replaces the drive mode dial and makes it trivial to move between the looks that are the reason many people buy a Fujifilm at all; some owners find it a gimmick and many use it constantly.
The autofocus is the same competent, not class leading, system as the rest of the current range. The price is the sticking point: it launched well above the X-T30 II it replaced, close enough to the X-T5 that the larger camera's weather sealing, better viewfinder and dual slots make it the more sensible buy for anyone who is not sold on the size.
