The EOS R6 V takes the 32.5 megapixel full frame sensor from the R6 Mark III and wraps it in a body designed for people who record video every day. There is no viewfinder. Instead you get a flat, compact shape, a built in cooling fan, a tally lamp, a vertical tripod mount and an integrated zoom lever for the new power zoom lenses. It records 7K RAW at 60p and 7K open gate at 30p, with in body stabilization rated at 7.5 stops.

For the money this is a lot of video camera. The fan means you can record for long stretches without a heat cut, Dual Pixel autofocus remains among the best in the business for holding a presenter or a moving subject, and 7K oversampling gives clean 4K. At 2499 dollars body only it undercuts the R6 Mark III by 300 dollars and every cinema body Canon sells.

The missing viewfinder is the headline compromise. If you ever shoot stills at eye level in bright sun, this is the wrong tool, and the unstacked sensor still shows rolling shutter on fast pans. This is a camera for solo creators, streamers, podcasters and second unit video work, not a general purpose hybrid. Photographers who want to look through a finder should take the R6 Mark III instead.
