Canon EOS R6 Mark III Review
2025CanonCamera
Canon put 7K raw and 40 frames a second in the mid range body, and gave up almost nothing to do it.

The R6 Mark II was already the sensible choice in Canon's line, and the Mark III widens the gap without changing the shape. Resolution rises from 24.2 to 32.5 megapixels on a new Dual Pixel sensor, bursts run to 40 frames a second on the electronic shutter with twenty frames of pre capture, and the mechanical shutter still manages 12.
The video list reads like a pricing mistake: 7K raw at 60p in Cinema Raw Lite, open gate 7K at 30p off the full 3:2 sensor area, oversampled 4K, and 4K at 120 frames if you accept a subsampled image. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II is still the autofocus everything else gets measured against, and stabilisation is rated at 8.5 stops with the right lens.
The compromises are real but narrow. The sensor is front side illuminated rather than stacked, so the electronic shutter drops to a 12 bit readout and gives up dynamic range. Long video takes will throttle in a warm room. And 2,799 dollars is three hundred more than the Mark II asked at launch. For anyone who shoots stills and video for a living, it is the easiest recommendation Canon has made in years.
