Twenty88 Review
2016Album
A short, warm duet album about a relationship in progress, with Aiko doing most of the heavy lifting.

Twenty88 plays like a conversation: half an hour of songs about a couple who cannot decide whether they are good for each other. The production, from Detail, Cam O'bi, KeY Wane and Tommy Brown among others, leans on the slow, late-night sound both artists had been working toward on their own records, and it is pleasant from start to finish.
Aiko carries it. Her hooks give the songs their shape and her verses are the ones with specifics in them. Big Sean is charming in places and flat in others, and by the end the idea of two lovers trading perspectives is more of a frame than a story.
It peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 and drew generally positive reviews, which is about right: a good companion piece to both artists' solo work, too slight to be essential.
