The commercial one, and it does exactly what the title promises for about forty minutes.

The strategy was to stop being difficult, and it paid immediately. Nineteen tracks of hard modern trap with a guest on most of them, no concept, no genre experiment, nothing to work out, just the most inventive vocalist of his generation having a good time over expensive production. Hot is the anchor and it is enormous, a horn loop and a beat that stops dead every few bars.

Bad Bad Bad has a genuinely great chorus. Just How It Is opens the record with more melody than it needs. The Big Slime and Surf keep the middle moving. What it lacks is any of the risk that made the early tapes exciting, and the last five tracks are indistinguishable from each other. But it moves, it is funny, and it is the record of his most likely to survive a car journey with people who do not care about him. Sometimes that is the whole job.
