Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon Review
2014Album
Half an instrumental record, released with no warning, and more interesting than it is enjoyable.

Released without announcement and priced like an afterthought, this is the most purely atmospheric thing he has done, and taken on those terms it is fine. Four of the ten tracks are instrumentals, all warm analogue synth and slow arpeggios, and they are better constructed than most of the beats on the album before it. Going to the Ceremony has a real groove. Balmain Jeans is a pretty duet that goes nowhere pleasant.
Internal Bleeding is the closest thing to a fully written song and it earns its place. The trouble is that the singing has become a texture rather than a performance, so when a vocal does arrive it adds very little to what the synths already established. Nobody claims this as a favourite and nobody actively dislikes it. It is a sketchbook released in public by someone with the freedom to do that, and its virtues are real and small.
