The beats are the entire reason this is worth mentioning. Metro was at his absolute peak in 2017 and this is a proper selection, cold synth figures, drums with real weight and arrangements that build across a track rather than looping to fill time. Call Me and Perfect Timing are both excellent pieces of production. Minute has a genuinely lovely melody underneath it.
Where it collapses is the vocal, because the same flat delivery and the same three subjects are stretched across thirteen tracks with a rotating cast of guests who all sound more alive than the man whose name is on the cover. Wanted You is the clearest example, a beat and a hook that a stronger singer would have turned into a hit. Worth hearing once for the instrumentals. Everything else about it is a demonstration of what production alone cannot fix.
