Orange Print Review
2020Album
The one where the formula clicks, and the calm starts sounding like confidence rather than a gimmick.

The change from the surrounding projects is small and it makes all the difference. The beats have more variety, some genuine soul samples among the funk loops, and there are two or three moments where the tempo lifts enough to give the album shape. His delivery stays exactly where it always is, which is the whole appeal, that unbothered San Francisco drawl explaining the benefits of good credit and cold pressed juice with total seriousness.
Smoothies in 1993 is the highlight. Still Cookin has a lovely loop. Corleone works because the guest matches the register instead of fighting it. There is still no depth here and no attempt at one, and if the persona does not amuse you then nothing on this record will change your mind. If it does, this is the most efficient forty minutes of it, and it is the project that made the later collaboration possible.
