Smooth, patient and pleasant, from a rapper who treats calm as an entire aesthetic.

The whole approach is a refusal of urgency. He raps at a conversational volume over soft West Coast funk, all bass, muted keys and drums that barely register, and the subjects are organic food, real estate, patience and staying calm, which is genuinely unusual material for rap and delivered without a shred of irony. The consistency is the strength and the limitation, because across the project the tempo, the tone and the topics never move, and there is no track that does anything the others do not.

What you get instead is a mood that holds perfectly for as long as you leave it running. The production is warm and unfussy. The writing is repetitive by design and occasionally very funny, in the deadpan way that made him a cult figure. Not the place to start with him and a completely reasonable place to spend forty minutes.
