Music to Be Murdered By Review
2020Album
Sharper beats and a few real songs, buried under twenty tracks and the usual speed for its own sake.

The sound is the improvement. He finally let in producers who had been listening to the last ten years, so the drums hit modern and the samples are dusty in a way that suits him, and it is the first of his late records that is pleasant to sit inside. Darkness is the standout by a distance, a song that builds a scene from a hotel room and turns it into a mass shooting without ever announcing the trick, and it is the last time the storytelling instinct fully shows up.
Godzilla is the speed exhibition, thrilling for ninety seconds and pointless after. Elsewhere he is still doing the thing where every line is a punchline about a celebrity, and the effect is a man solving crosswords at volume. Twenty tracks is too many by six. Cut it down and it would be his most listenable album since 2002, which is not nothing.
