2024Album

A short, hungry solo record made by someone who remembered he is good at this.

The framing does most of the work. Calling it a mixtape lowers the stakes, and lowered stakes are exactly what he needs, so instead of another sixty five minute event album this is a compact set of beats and boasts with no guests to accommodate and no crossover attempt anywhere. Told My did the numbers and deserves them, a slow burner with one of his better hooks in years.

Lost My Dog has real weight to it. Ski and Gucci Mane are efficient. The production stays in the same narrow band throughout, which on a forty six minute record is a strength rather than a limitation. Nothing here is new and nothing here is filler, which after several albums that were mostly filler counts as a genuine recovery. It will not go down as important. It is the one from the late period that gets put on again.
