Love Sick Review

Announcing a love album raises a question about writing that this record has no intention of answering. The sound is genuinely lush, some of the best mixing on any of his projects, warm keys and layered harmonies and beats that open into real space. 4 Me has a beautiful arrangement and a guest doing the emotional work. Leave the Club is fun. Do It Right has a proper hook.

But there is not one specific detail about any person anywhere in forty eight minutes, so the album about love ends up being about a general feeling of being pleasantly overwhelmed in a nice car. The vocal remains lovely and the melodies keep arriving. It is a record you can put on for an hour and enjoy without ever engaging with, which is a real category of usefulness and a clear ceiling. The production grade is earned. The lyrics grade is being generous.
