Kids See Ghosts Review
2018Album
The one Wyoming record that got finished, and the best argument that the short format suited him.

The same week, the same studio, the same brutal deadline, and this one works. The difference is that Cudi's hums and wails give the songs a spine that West's rapping alone was not providing in 2018, and the pair sequence twenty four minutes as a single arc rather than seven unrelated sketches. Feel the Love is a guest verse and West making gunshot noises with his mouth over Cudi's chant, which should be idiotic and is instead thrilling.
4th Dimension flips a Christmas record into a swaggering thing. Reborn is the centre, a slow four chord loop, a mantra about moving forward, and the most direct writing either had managed about mental illness. Cudi Montage takes a Kurt Cobain recording and turns it into a closing prayer. The writing is not sharp and neither man is at his lyrical best. It does not matter. The record is warm, generous and short, and it earns its ending.
